Engine control units usually automatically reduce their maximum available engine power when critical parameters (e.g., engine oil pressure) exceed their limits. In order to have full engine power available immediately in a dangerous situation, the current reduction can be canceled with the AHD-ORP override panel (in accordance with the rule “ship before engine”). The override button is designed as a 2-position pushbutton switch with a reset function and is protected against accidental operation by a cover flap. After triggering the override function, the reset button is pressed to restore the previous state and reactivate the engine's protective function.
