The electrohydraulic trim tab control system developed and patented by Böning optimizes the handling of fast yachts through precise control of the trim tabs. The cylinders of the trim tabs are controlled via the electric valves of the AHD-TCS HYD hydraulic unit, while special flow meters are used instead of conventional position sensors. This innovative technology reduces fault-prone cabling and ensures accurate position determination by the AHD-TCS A electronic control unit. Automatic raising of the trim tabs protects the cylinders from fouling, and in combination with a GPS receiver, the system enables an auto mode in which the optimal tab position for different speeds is stored by the shipyard. All data is transmitted via a CAN bus and can be visualized graphically on a color display – for maximum control and comfort on board.
